Freemasonry amongst African Descendants in America

Freemasonry amongst African Descendants in America aka Prince Hall Freemasonry is a branch of North American Freemasonry for African Americans founded by Prince Hall on September 29, 1784. There are two main branches of Prince Hall Freemasonry: the independent State Prince Hall Grand Lodges, most of which are recognized by White Masonic jurisdictions, and those under the jurisdiction of the National Grand Lodge. Prince Hall Freemasonry is the oldest and largest (300,000+ initiated members) predominantly African - American fraternity in the nation.

Black Freemasonry in the USA - James R. Morgan III is an active Prince Hall Freemason. We are delighted to welcome him to Solomon Live and hear his insights into this thriving branch of Freemasonry.

Entered Apprentices

WBro Sam LGR and the members of Alfred Newton Lodge L2686 had the distinct pleasure and honor to welcome VW Bro Johnathan Hillman AMetGM and other MetGL Officers along with the Metropolitan Grand Lodge Craft Ritual Support Team and Metropolitan Grand Stewards Lodge Demonstration Team, who performed a Demonstration of the Ceremony of Initiation (1st Degree).

The welcome project makes itself available for the improvement and understanding of the Craft by taking the time to fully explain the ritual. This in turn gives new Freemasons a sure knowledge footing on which to base a happy and informed masonic journey.

A large contingent turned out to participate and learn followed by a bumper Festive Board filled with seasonal cheer and generosity.

The event was made all the more special to Alfred Newton Lodge, its members, and VW Bro Johnathan Hillman AMetGM as his father was at one time a member of Alfred Newton Lodge L2686. As such we wish him, and all the brethren well, and stand ready to assist them again should we be called upon.
