About
Alfred Newton Lodge No.2686
was constituted in 1898 under a charter from the
United Grand Lodge of England
With a mixture of Professionals, founded in 1898 and Consecrated on the 5th of March, Alfred Newton Lodge is a small yet growing, friendly lodge. The lodge is made up of British Nationals, Caribbean, and West African members, and so a lively mixture of accents can be experienced at festive boards abundant with laughter and goodwill. As a 'Taylors' Lodge, the members are proud to know their orientation in the Lodge and whilst perambulating. Our determination to constantly improve our ritual ensures that advancement is marked through dedication and practice. As such, a candidate’s advancement in Freemasonry, and progression in the Lodge, is encouraged through mentoring, in addition to guidance by one's proposer; but most of all through the interest and dedication of the individual. The Lodge receives regular visits from members of The Lodge of the West Indies L9424, Guyana Lodge L9626, and Epworth Lodge L3789, with which Alfred Newton Lodge L2686 shares close ties.
Alfred Newton Lodge has grown by some 50% in the last couple of years and welcomes inquiries into Freemasonry in general and for membership to this prestigious Lodge with a long and rich history.
